AL's - Special Edition Shoe - Size 7 Wide

£1,995.00

“These Rope Soled Slipper Shoes took months to make. I commissioned Michelle Williams to weave the Uppers in July 2010. From raw wool of the Marino and Wensleydale sheep Michelle first dyed a large palette of colours with natural and synthetic dyes. Once dry she then spun the raw wool into thread, adding touches of silk and synthetics to add sheen and sparkle. Most weaving are rectangular in shape, the Uppers of a pair of shoes have many curves, so were incredibly difficult to make. The scenes are based loosely on scenes from the countryside and seascapes of West Wales. The beads at the end of the laces are hand made by Michelle too.”

These are from the extra special range of Original Rope Soled Shoes from Alan’s collection.

These OriginAL Shoes were made by our founder and creator of Shandals® - Alan James Raddon. They are part of Alan’s final collection which he meticulously made in his career spanning over 45 years before he passed away in 2021. If you are lucky enough to own one of Alans highly collectable Shoes you will feel just how special they are.

Our Original Shoes are designed to be broad at the toe box to allow your toes to move freely around. The arch is fitted so your foot is held firmly into the back of the shoe. We make our Shoes to be as close as possible to barefoot - most people say it feels like you are wearing nothing on your feet. Our Shoes have been specially designed to be instantly comfortable as soon as you put them on, but as with all leather they will soften the more you wear them and very soon you will find your footprint embeds into the sole and they become ‘yours’.

  • Size 7

  • Wide Width.

  • Made from soft, individually woven fabric panels.

  • Fully lined in soft, full grain, Italian British Racing Green leather.

  • Beaded cord laces.

  • Double outsole stitched.

  • Repairable Rope soles.

  • Signed and Dated by AL. 3.4.11

These shoes are handmade to be instantly comfortable as soon as you put them on.

The jute rope soles are made from 200 feet of twine plaited into two square eight plait ropes which are sewn into soles, then invisibly stitched to the uppers.

They are designed to be worn, cherished and last a lifetime.
