About Us 

We are The Original Shandals® co.

The only genuine makers of Shandals® in the (whole) wide world.

Shandals® are designed to heal and strengthen the feet. They were originally designed to correct a bunion but now worn far and wide by people who want a comfortable footwear that allow your toes to breathe. We make our Shandals® in a range of stock colours and sizes.

We also make range of ‘foot shaped’ shoes and boots for women, men and children all over the world.

Each and every pair of Shandals® are handmade from our workshop in Machynlleth, Wales UK, with each pair being designed to last and be repairable after years of wear. Every pair is handmade, signed and dated by us as the genuine makers.

The Original Shandals® Co. was born as a collaboration between creator of Shandals® - Alan James Raddon and his apprentice Shoemaker Ruth Emily Davey.

Our Team

  • The Origin-AL Designer and Creator of Shandals® and one half of the founder of ‘The Original Shandals® co.’

    Alan made shoes for over 40 years and passed away on 1.2.21

  • Shoemaker and former Apprentice to Alan James Raddon and the other half of ‘The Original Shandals® co.

    Ruth runs her own bespoke shoe brand RED shoes alongside Shandals®.

  • JB is our head Shoemaker here at the Shandals® Co. and stitches all our Shoes/Shandals®/Boots with the utmost care and dedication.

    JB joined us in 2019 and was the first official employee of The Original Shandals® Co.

  • Luca is the newest member of the Shandals® team.

    Already an accomplished leather worker, Luca puts all the soles on our Shoes. He is also often found tinkering away and keeping all the machines well oiled and cared for.

  • Margo is the head Shoemaker over at RED but is often helping out where she is needed at The Original Shandals® co.

    Margo manages all the website and is here to welcome you in our high street shop.
